Brand Identity

My Role

Graphic Designer

The Children's Theatre of Annapolis came to me to redesign their logo and brand identity in order to be perceived as professional while still maintaining a child-like playfulness. CTA sits on the location where the Nike missile project was housed in 1945 so they use the rocket as a symbol to represent its history in addition to the growth the children experience as they improve in the performing arts.

Concept

Featuring a child-like rocket, the letter A is formed by the Nike missile and the smoke from the launch which doubles as a stage curtain opening. Additionally, the overlapping letters coming together to create new colors symbolize CTA’s commitment to community and inclusion.

Results

The new identity retains the original color palette but infuses it with fresh vibrancy. Updated typography and iconography have transformed the theatre’s image, shifting perceptions from simple children’s shows to remarkable, high-quality performances. The redesigned logo now captures the same level of sophistication and talent that audiences can expect from the young performers on stage.
